THE MODALITIES
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. Its benefits are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue MASSAGE
When using Deep Tissue Massage, the therapist uses firm pressure and slow, deliberate, and intentional strokes to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. It is a highly effective for releasing chronic stress accumulated due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and lingering injuries. Deep Tissue contributes to lowering blood pressure, reducing stress hormone levels, enhancing mood, breaking up scar tissue, and inducing deeper relaxation. Make sure to communicate with your therapist about the pressure they are using. Though some therapeutic pain is expected, it should always be manageable without having to brace or tense your muscles in response.
Hot stone Therapy
During Hot Stone therapy, smooth, flat, heated stones are used to perform long and relaxing glides on specific parts of the body. The stones are usually made of volcanic rock that retains heat between 130 and 145 degrees. Hot Stone therapy is usually combined with other modalities, such as Swedish and Deep Tissue massage techniques. It is becoming a popular complementary therapy for many conditions, including improving circulation, increasing metabolism, relieving chronic muscle tension and pain, reducing the incidence of muscle spasms, improving joint flexibility, reducing stress and anxiety, and promoting sleep. It may also help relieve symptoms of autoimmune diseases, decrease symptoms associated with cancer treatment, and boost immunity.
Himalayan Salt Stone Therapy
Himalayan Salt Stone therapy is similar to Hot Stone therapy, but the therapist uses smooth Himalayan salt stones instead. Himalayan salt stones provide additional benefits to Hot Stone therapy. Heated Himalayan salt releases negative ions that bind and neutralize free radicals in the body that are responsible for stress, cell-damage, disease, and accelerated aging. In addition, Himalayan salt crystals are anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial, allowing the skin to detoxify. Himalayan salt crystals are anti-inflammatory, helping reduce joint inflammation and muscle soreness, stiffness, and pain.
Prenatal MASSAGE
Prenatal Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes. Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.
